due to my inactivity, now you'll get the music for the last seven days at once. i remind you to participate in podroom's poll, if you already haven't. this will make podroom more customized to your musical taste .-) leave comments if you like something of the following musical potpourri. and enjoy the noise.
thuja (it's pronounced "thoo-zhuh") make dense and fractured improvisational tone poems. an organic approach to drone/free folk, which sets them alongside their contemporaries the no neck blues band.
Boris – Smile (2008)
for those of you who still haven't heard boris’ 2008 release for southern lord.
Maria Zerfall (In Phase Pervers) – Ich-Katastrophe (1999)
german early industrial project that operated in the eighties. maria zerfall released mostly tapes, which now are very rare and enjoy cult status. in 1999 membrum debile proaganda re-released some of her recordings, among them this underground pearl.
Asmus Tietchens – Aus Freude Am Elend (1988)
an earlier work of german avant-garde composer asmus tietchens. his oeuvre spans from a wide range of styles, but it's generally based on music concrete, experimental electronica and tape loops.
Position Parallèle – Position Parallèle (2008)
a cold electronic side-project of dernière volonté. "a sentimental melancholic journey into the early 80s. a first step into the big sphere of surrealism, cold love and lonely despair." (equilibrium music). well, the first impression of this album is not "whoow", but more like "…errm?". then, suddenly, you start to digg this dance, glam, synth pop outfit and feel like grooving to it.
Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft – Alles ist gut (1981)
d.a.f. (short for german-american friendship) provided with "alles ist gut" an essential neue deutsche welle (ndw)/electropunk release. the band name d.a.f. satirically refers to the dsf, the east german deutsch-sowjetische freundschaft (german-soviet friendship organization). d.a.f.'s probably most popular song is "der mussolini":
"dance the mussolini, move your behind, clap your hands, and now the adolf hitler, and now the jesus christ, and now the communism …"
V.A. Als die Partisanen kamen (Berlin Underground 1979-1983)
"in 1991, the berlin-based zensor label released a compilation called "als die partisanen kamen" (when the guerrillas came). it contained a bunch of berlin underground music which had appeared on the zensor, monogam, and marat labels between 1979 and 1983. apparently they thought it would be dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands, so they created some of the most annoying and illegible artwork in the history of mankind." (wfmu's beware of the blog)
the title of the compilation if quite self-explaining, so i'll simply add the cover art to it, to prove its trash factor:
FRONT
BACK
"als die partisanen kamen" with frieder butzmann, sentimentale jugend, alexander von borsig (actually alexander hacke), die haut, mekanik destrüktiv kohmandöh (which is again an alias of alexander hacke), mania d, die zwei etc.
E bogme si nam svega spremila, vrijedilo je cekati 🙂
tHANks for all the music, German and otherwise. Terrific blog!
evo… kakvu god pjesmu imao/la, ona nije sastavni dio albuma: http://www.discogs.com/release/131190
i sori zbog tog dodavanja…
